The World of Exquisite Folly

How we see things:

Exquisite Folly was set up to bring new, unusual and imaginative shows to life in a site-responsive and audience involving way. Our first outing was in August 2005 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Since then we have been working on ghost stories, improvised romances, a version of Alice's adventures in Wonderland with the cast and audience on bicycles, in parks, in libraries, the streets and even theatres...

Who we are:

Amelia De-Felice:  Artistic Director, Writer and Producer

Amelia started Exquisite Folly in 2005, she is a writer, director and producer and has recently completed an MA in Theatre for Young Audiences at Bath Spa (with distinction), her specialisms are narrative improvisation, puppetry, promenade, clown and ensemble work. Exquisite Folly Theatre has always made work that is for everyone, site responsive, imaginative and adventurous. In addition to running Exquisite Folly Amelia was the producer for The Ghost Bus Tours, and has worked at Ovalhouse, The London Bubble, Theatre Peckham, Sketty Theatre, The Uncertainty Division, FanShen, The Empathy Museum and for The Unimaginables. Amelia has also delivered workshops at Southbank Centre, Ovalhouse, Hoxton Hall, The London Bubble, AnyoneEverymum and for Camberwell Arts Festival as well as in SEN schools.

Each project is delivered by Amelia and a show specific creative team. The aim is always to ignite the imagination, tell a good story and take people on a journey (physically or emotionally) to somewhere they might not normally go.

Some of the lovely people we work with:

Ben Wallace: Technical Magician. Ben studied Theatre Design at The Wimbledon School of Art and was formerly the Technical Manager at The Albany theatre in Deptford and he currently works at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama.  Ben and Amelia have been working together on various projects since 2007. John O'Connor: GetCarter PR Film and Animation. John is a film maker and animator based in South East London. He has been working with Exquisite Folly Theatre since it began and has also worked for other theatre companies and arts organisations such as Ovalhouse, Box Clever, Extant and the City of London Sinfonia. If you want to have a look at some of the brilliant things John makes, click here! And here! Josephine Arden: fabulous actor and co-conspirator. Josie can often be heard as the voices of many an audio book, seen on the stage of the Royal Opera House and even spotted having dinner with Meerkats. Laura Mugridge: performer, Comedienne and Theatre Maker. Laura makes magical things all of the time and sometimes we are lucky enough to borrow her!

Marina Kroyer: Incredible Commissioning Hero on a Bike! Marina makes all things BIKE possible, if you have ever come to one of our Bikeminded events or shows Marina is the lady who makes it happen, without her we would not have almost a decade of truly wonderful outdoor experiences behind us!
